Just like the Dynamic Duo who had gone through various death traps ever since the first season, there were also some which were set up for Batgirl.
The episodes in Season 3 were a bit different compared to the first couple of seasons when they were about to end. There were no more of those "Same Bat-Time, Same Bat-Channel!" texts which could be seen in the first couple of seasons.
Episodes in the first two seasons mostly ended the first part with a trap/cliffhanger which would be resolved in the second part. Most of the traps which were set for Batgirl were not brought forward to a second part as they were resolved in the same episode. However, there were a couple of situations when she only managed to free herself by the second part of the episode.
Kidnapped by The Penguin
In the first episode (Enter Batgirl, Exit Penguin), Barbara was kidnapped by the Penguin. His plan was to marry her to become the Commissioner's son-in-law so that he would be immuned from prosecution.
She was freed from her bounds after she agreed to marry the Penguin after he threatened to kill her father. When she was being locked inside a room, she escaped through an open window and made her way to her apartment just next door.
The Riddler's Steam Room
In episode 2 (Ring Around the Riddler), Batgirl tried to stop the Riddler after she saw him posing as a boxing champion, Mushy Nebuchadnezer, on TV. After Batgirl finally met him, the Riddler called out the lovely villainess, Siren, to hypnotise her. Unfortunately for the Riddler, Siren's hypnotising voice had no effect on women.
Frustrated that the plan did not work, the Riddler ordered his group of henchmen to toss her into a Steam Room. Batgirl escaped moments later but it was not shown on screen as they only got one of the Riddler's henchmen to say that she had escaped. There was not even a scene to show what exactly happened inside the Steam Room.
Lord Ffogg's Dungeon
The Terrific Trio made their way out of Gotham to Londinium for another case which would last for three episodes. After making her way into the forbidden Cricket Pavillion, Batgirl was paralyzed when the whole place was covered with paralyzing gas.
She was then chained up inside a dungeon. Later, Batman also joined Batgirl after he was locked inside the same dungeon. Batman used his "Bat-File" to free Batgirl from the chains and used the Indian Rope Trick to get both himself and Batgirl out of the dungeon.
These happened in episodes 12 (The Foggiest Notion) and 13 (The Bloody Tower), the final two parts of a three part episode. This was also one of the couple of times when Batgirl was only freed in the next episode (Batman rescued Batgirl in episode 13).
"Yes, my dear. You will make a purrfect pinafore. The type of garment no one will recognize you; in or as, if you should pardon a final cutting remark." -Catwoman.
Seen in: Episode 14, Catwoman's Dressed To Kill.
While Batgirl was searching for the Catwoman, who was hiding inside a model's dressing room, she was sprayed in the face by surprise which left her unconscious. When she woke up moments later, Batgirl found that she had been kidnapped by Catwoman, who had planned to place the helpless crimefighter in a diabolical death trap very soon.
Catwoman explained that she was going to steal the famous Golden Fleece from Queen Bess of Belgravia at the Belgravian Embassy. Batgirl was frantically struggling in her bonds, as Catwoman ordered Angora, a big and strong henchmen, to gag her. Angora then carried the helpless Batgirl in his arms with ease, laid and strapped her to the Pattern Cutter machine.
Catwoman would be stealing the Golden Fleece at the exact moment when Batgirl would meet her doom. Batman & Robin had to make a choice of whether to stop the Catwoman or rescue Batgirl from her approaching doom. The Dynamic Duo managed to stop the Catwoman as they had Alfred to do the job of rescuing Batgirl. Alfred, disguised as an oldest living hippie, came to Batgirl's rescue just in time before the blade were to slice her into half.
The Sabre Dance
"And now, my little pipkin, you will do for us Sabre Dance, with frosted swords!" -Olga.
Seen in: Episode 15, The Ogg Couple.
The team of Egghead and Olga had stolen 500 pounds of condensed caviar from the Gotham City Bank. Later, Batgirl caught Egghead in the streets and forced him to bring her to his hideout. Once reached, Batgirl was attacked by Olga's cossacks. Just when it looked like Batgirl was winning the fight, Olga scooped some of the stolen caviar and dropped it on the floor, which caused Batgirl to slip and fall hard.
Batgirl's slip up gave the villains an advantage, as they had her hands tied behind her back, and was forced to performed a Sabre Dance. Surrounded by five cossacks who are armed with frosted swords, Batgirl then began to dance -- spinning and jumping around, to avoid being poked or cut by the sharp swords.
Batman & Robin arrived at the hideout just in time when it seemed like Batgirl was already exhausted performing the Sabre Dance. Their arrival caused the dance to stop as the cossacks turned their attention to getting rid of Batman & Robin. It looked like Batgirl was saved and could get a little rest, but unfortunately for her, its still not over yet!
Drowned in Caviar
"We are drowning her in caviar! Daa... Daa... Drowning her in caviar!" -Olga.
As Batman & Robin were busy fighting off the cossacks, Olga ordered Egghead to grab Batgirl and drown her in the vat of caviar. Batgirl, whose hands were still tied behind her back, struggled to free herself but to no avail, as Egghead carried her away and eventually tossed the helpless crimefighter into the vat.
This gave both Olga and Egghead to make their escape as Batgirl was helplessly screaming for help.
"Those Cat's Whiskers, a fiendish invention of mine. They will automatically contract when placed in close contact with the heat of the body." -Catwoman.
Seen in: Episode 17, The Joke's On Catwoman.
Batgirl was confronted by both the Joker and Catwoman, and was later ambushed by a couple of their henchmen. The men, Laugher & Giggler, manhandled the shocked crimefighter and laid her on the front lawn of Karnaby Katz's mansion, where they tied a really thin twine around her body. Catwoman explained that the twine was her invention called the "Cat's Whiskers," a long line which would contract when placed in close contact with the heat of the body. Once the henchmen were done tieing Batgirl up, the entire gang left her to die.
Batgirl squirmed and struggled for her dear life, before noticing a sprinkler controller nearby. She then rolled and positioned her body near the controller where she activated the gadget by using her chin to press the "On" button.
Louie's Oil Vat
In episode 18 (Louie's Lethal Lilac Time), Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson had been kidnapped by Louie and his henchmen. Batgirl arrived at the hideout to rescue them but was stunned after receiving an invisible spray from Louie.
She was then placed inside a vat which would be filled with boiling oil. Later, Bruce and Dick were released from their bounds but were locked inside a room, an opportunity to suit up into Batman and Robin. After Batman and Robin arrived and had a short fight with Louie and his henchmen, Batgirl recovered and escaped from the vat using her Vat-Opener.
The Siamese Human Knot
A bizarre trap as seen in episode 19 (Nora Clavicle and The Ladies Crime Club).
The Terrific Trio sneaked into the warehouse of Dropstitch & Co. after getting a lead from Batman's portable Bat-Computer. Unfortunately, while looking around for clues, Nora Clavicle grabbed Batgirl from behind and threatened to puncture her veins with a razor sharp needle.
Unable to do anything, the Terrific Trio were later tied into a Siamese Human Knot where a slight move would strangle them all to death. Nora Clavicle had planned to destroy all of Gotham City with an army of robotic mice equipped with time bombs to claim an insurance worth ten million dollars. After Nora Clavicle had left, Batman made some intelligent calculations to free the Terrific Trio from the Siamese Human Knot.
